Eighty-six female inmates have been moved into a new Utah State Prison unit that officials say will evolve into a program area for the women and other inmates.

The women were moved Monday into a facility that can house up to 132 prisoners and is part of the North Point unit, which includes the Young Adult Correctional Facility and the old facility for women, which will house Utah Correctional Industries workers and the inmate firefighter and asbestos-removal crews."In time, North Point will probably evolve into the program area for the Draper site," Warden Jeffrey Galli said.

Programs will include drug and alcohol counseling, self-esteem classes, education programs and vocational education.
