A decision on whether to close the American Greetings Corp. plant in northern Utah has been delayed for at least one month, company spokesman Rod Malsom said.
The Cleveland-based company had said it would announce the future of the Brigham City plant May 13, but Malsom said American Greetings executives want more time. The Utah plant employs about 165 workers making greeting cards, gift wrapping, party favors and paper plates and cups. It opened in 1976, Malsom said.
American Greetings is looking at the Brigham City operation and 14 similar plants nationwide for possible consolidations. If any plants are closed, few jobs would be transferred to other locations, he said.
