The United Way of Davis County, which recently completed its fund-raising campaign, has exceeded its $540,000 goal by $8,805 for a total increase in donations of 13.2 percent over the previous year.
Campaign Chairman Jerry Moffitt, refinery manager for Chevron USA in North Salt Lake, said the donations are a record for Davis contributors. During a recent banquet, 127 employee groups having a 10 percent pledge increase over the previous year were recognized. This was a special one-time Centennial Award Certificate in recognition of the United Way's centennial year of 1987. Also, 107 employee groups were recognized for earning the Gold Award, earned by having a minimum of 50 percent employee participation with an average contribution per employee of more than $20.Eleven companies received the Major Contributor Award for pledges over $10,000. They included Davis School District, $51,789; Albertson's Warehouse in North Salt Lake, $43,896; Chevron USA, $41,816; Utility Trailer, Clearfield, $39,359; Eaton-Kenway, Bountiful, $38,112; Allied Aftermarket, Clearfield, $27,665; Hercules Inc., Clearfield, $18,418; All American Gourmet, Clearfield, $12,343; Mountain Fuel Supply, $11,641; Phillips Petroleum, Woods Cross, $10,911, and Computer Science Corp., $10,172.
Fifteen individuals made contributions of more than $750 each; 35 contributed between $500 and $749, and 384 contributed between $250 and $499 for a total of $129,664 from 434 individuals. These contributors were recognized as Eagle Club members.
