White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater Tuesday refused to allow television coverage of a pre-summit White House briefing, saying television "distorts information." Fitzwater was responding to a request to admit television cameras to an on-the-record briefing being given by Rozanne Ridgeway, the assistant secretary of state for European affairs. The briefing is one of a series being held in advance of President Reagan's May 29-June 2 meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev in Moscow.
