U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Greene has set sentencing for June 28 for Gary E. Feltch, described as a major owner of AA Carbide Inc., on his guilty plea to filing a false federal tax return.

Feltch filed a false return for 1981, according to the plea. A federal grand jury indicted him in March.

According to the U.S. attorney's office, filing a false tax return carries a possible maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

In addition to the criminal sentence, Feltch is liable for all back taxes due, interest, and any penalty that may be assessed. The case was investigated by agents of the Internal Revenue Service's Salt Lake City District.
