Our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Kirk Duane Hoecherl, 44, passed away March 3, 1996 in West Valley City, Utah, of a heart attack.
Kirk was born November 16, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ray and Verda Smith Hoecherl. On January 27, 1970 he married his eternal companion, Sally Hendrickson; together they had eleven beautiful children. He overcame many obstacles with his health and was an example to everyone around him. Throughout his life, Kirk was an avid sports lover and participated in many sports in his youth and adulthood. His greatest joy in life was supporting his children and being involved in their many activities. Kirk was involved in Granger High swim meets, and the majority of his time for the past few years was committed to the Utah youth soccer Olympic Development Program. Others involved in ODP greatly loved and respected him and will miss his dedication.Kirk was an active member of the LDS Church and held many callings including counselor in the bishopric. He had a strong testimony and a great love of the gospel. His family will always remember his wonderful example.
Survived by his devoted wife, Sally; eleven children, Celeste (Shawn) Conlin, Terry (Tifany), Melanie (Aaron) Anderson, Joey (serving a Mexico-Oaxaca LDS mission), Ben, Rachel, Hyrum, Annie, Chris, Becky, and Hannah; grandsons, Niccolas, Justin, and Kody Conlin and a grandchild on the way; he is also survived by his parents, brothers, sisters, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother-like uncle, Larry Hoecherl.
Funeral services Wedsnesday, March 6, 11 a.m., West Valley Stake Center, 3965 So. Peachwood Dr. (3450 West) where friends may call Tuesday evening 6:30-8:30 p.m., and Wednesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial at Valley View Memorial Park under direction of Larkin Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, a fund in Kirk's name has been established for the family at Zion's First National Bank.
