A former Clearfield Job Corps student from St. Louis, Mo., was ordered to undergo a 90-day prison evaluation Tuesday and will return to 2nd District Court June 28 for a new sentencing hearing.

Darren I. Perkins, 20, pleaded guilty March 8 to attempted rape, a first-degree felony, in a Jan. 1 incident at the Job Corps Center.

He was originally charged with rape and aggravated sexual abuse, also a first-degree felony, and pleaded guilty to the single charge in a plea negotiation with the Davis County attorney's office.

According to court records, Perkins forced a female student into his room after a New Year's Eve party and threatened her if she didn't submit to his advances.
