Glen Harris Thurston, 91, passed away Thursday, January 18, 1996 at his home in Morgan.

He was born September 19, 1904 to Bert Harris and May Peterson Thurston in Milton, Utah. On November 27, 1925, he married Ada Myrtle Giles in the Salt Lake Temple. She died August 1, 1994. A High Priest in the LDS Church, Morgan 2nd Ward, he had served in many positions including Elder's Quorum presidency. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. Glen was a lifetime farmer, raising Clydesdales and cattle. He had worked for the railroad during World War II. He enjoyed working at Lagoon, running the stagecoach ride with his beloved Clydesdales for many years. He and his wife, Ada, took part in the movie, "The Donner Party".He was a member of the National Clydesdale Association and also a member of the Morgan Lions Club. Glen served as a Morgan County Commissioner for four years and served several terms as State Legislator. He was president of the County Officials Association, served on the Morgan County Fair Board, a member of the Morgan Draft Board, and a member of the Morgan County Soil Conservation District Board.

Surviving are two sons and three daughters: Dale (Barbara) Thurston, Morgan; Fred (Jean) Thurston, Morgan; Connie (Bob) Ford, Tenino, Wash.; Nell (James) Nickerson, Whitman, Mass.; and Ann (Michael) McMillan, Morgan; 31 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Tillie Steed, Farmington; and Betty Mecham, Morgan. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve; a daughter, Sally Rust; a brother and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at 1 p.m. in the Morgan 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Interment, Milton Cemetery.
