Utah Transportation Department crews hope to have U-150, through the Mirror Lake area on the western end of the Uinta Mountains, reopened before the end of May.

Nine other state highways through Utah's higher mountains have been cleared of snowpack for the summer, said department spokeswoman Shirley Iverson. But that still leaves U-152 over Guardsman's Pass between Brighton and Park City ski resorts, and U-153 between Beaver and Junction, Piute County, closed by winter snows.

"The summer recreation-area roads are routinely closed each winter when declining traffic volumes do not meet the need for snow removal," said Iverson.

"But crews will be working during the next two weeks to try to have the other three highways open for the Memorial Day holiday weekend," she said.
