A former policewoman has accused the Coeur d'Alene Police Department of sexual discrimination.

In a federal lawsuit, Shelley Jean Pumphrey said she was fired because she could not qualify on the shooting range with a department-issued pistol that was too big for her hands.City Attorney Jeff Jones said Friday it would be "premature" to comment on the lawsuit that seeks back pay since Oct. 1, 1987, along with other unspecified damages. Pumphrey also wants a court injunction preventing the police department from further civil rights and due process violations.
