A gunman who may be linked to two earlier shoe store robberies held up a Salt Lake shoe store Tuesday night.
The man entered Payless Shoe Source, 812 E. 21st South, at 9:15 p.m. and ordered two clerks to give him money from the register while brandishing a small black revolver. He then ordered the pair to the rear of the store, where he tied them up, Salt Lake Police Lt. Norm Thompson said.
The clerks said the bandit was white, about 24 years old, with a mustache and wearing a blue baseball cap, blue jacket and jeans. He was about 5-feet 7-inches with a medium build. Police said the man took more than $1,000.
The incident is similar to others reported on March 3 at a Salt Lake County Payless Shoe Source and in February at the same store.
