Fire broke out in the engine room of a Liberian tanker Sunday, and two crew members suffered smoke inhalation, authorities said.

Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Robert Garrott said the fire on the 810-foot "Jalinga" was confined to the engine room, and there was no danger of pollution from the estimated 450,000 barrels of crude oil the vessel was carrying. The ship was several miles into the Sabine Channel on the Texas-Louisiana border when the fire began at about 9:30 a.m., Garrott said.
