G.R. "Jerry" Moffitt, manager of Chevron U.S.A. Inc.'s Salt Lake refinery for four years, has been named head of the company's Philadelphia refinery beginning July 1.
A replacement for Moffitt has not been announced.Following graduation from the University of Utah, he joined Chevron in 1962 at the Richmond, Calif. plant. In 1977 he was assigned to the company's Feluy Belgium refinery as refining operations manager, then he returned to the United States in 1980 to become area superintendent at the Pascagoula, Miss., refinery.
In 1983 he was named manufacturing operations coordinator at headquarters in San Francisco, Calif., and he returned to Salt Lake City as refinery manager in 1985.
A Utah native, Moffitt was born in Price and raised in Salt Lake City. He received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the U. He has served as a board member of the Salt Lake Area and Bountiful Area chambers of commerce and the Utah Manufacturers Assoc. He was recently appointed as a commissioner on Governor's Clean Air Commission.
In community affairs, Moffitt has been executive committee chairman and board president of the United Way of Davis County. He is a former member of the industrial relations board for the U.'s College of Engineering.
