The federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has charged that Esteban Carrasco-Lizarraga, who was deported to Mexico on Jan. 14 on a drug trafficking crime, was discovered in Salt Lake City two months later.

According to the indictment, Carrasco-Lizarraga was convicted on a drug trafficking charge and deported, only to re-enter the country illegally. He was then arrested by Salt Lake narcotics investigators, said a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office.U.S. Attorney Dee V. Benson said if the defendant is convicted of the single count, he would face a maximum possible sentence of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
