Dr. James R. Moss, Utah superintendent for public education, has been named chairman-elect of the board of directors of Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development.

The lab, based in San Francisco, is one of nine regional units that addresses educational issues and problems throughout the country. The Far West Lab serves Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California.Moss now serves as chairman of the lab's program committee and has spearheaded expanded services in the four-state area.

Moss will assume the post in June 1990.
