The College of Physical Education at Brigham Young University recently honored Brent Q. Hafen, professor of health sciences, and Catherine H. Black, assistant professor of dance, with its top annual awards.

Hafen received the Creative Achievement Award, and Black was given the Teaching Excellence Award.Hafen is the author or co-author of more than 50 books. He also is active in developing monograms, film strips, movies and videos, all while pursuing many research and development projects.

Black has taught at BYU since 1972. She was chosen Teacher of the Year three times by graduating students in the department of physical education/dance.

She has also excelled as an artist in performance and choreography.
