The U.S. Indian Health Service will solicit proposals for a proposed hospital to be built in Shiprock, N.M., Navajo interim chairman Leonard Haskie announced Wednesday.

Haskie said he overturned a previous design contract because it was awarded to a company run by James Atcitty, an appointee of tribal chairman Peter MacDonald and the brother of Tom Atcitty, who helps select architects. The public health service in Dallas will handle the project for the IHS, Haskie said.
