Disgraced Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson was assaulted outside a Toronto nightclub Thursday, suffering a broken tooth and swollen lip, police said. Ed Futerman, the lawyer representing Johnson at a Canadian government inquiry into the use of drugs in sports, said the attackers had recognized Johnson and added that it was not his first such confrontation since being stripped of his gold medal at the Seoul Olympics after testing positive for steroids. The attack occurred after Johnson and track stars Mark McKoy and Desai Williams left a downtown nightclub. Johnson drove past a group of pedestrians when a person in the group banged on the car, police said. Johnson was assaulted after getting out of the car to confront the person.
