The Weber-Morgan Health District board has given its support to a proposal that would ban all alcoholic beverages at Pineview Reservoir as a way of reducing injuries.

"It's a touchy subject in Utah because it always becomes a religious issue," said Kevin Thompson, the district's injury-control specialist.Thompson said restricting alcoholic beverages, in addition to reducing injuries at the reservoir, would reduce the incidence of alcohol-related crashes in Ogden Canyon, North Ogden Pass and the new Trappers Loop, reduce law-enforcement problems in the beach areas and make Pineview more attractive to local residents and tourists.
