Richard E. Terry of Orem has been named chairman of the department of agronomy and horticulture at Brigham Young University.

Clayton S. Huber, dean of the College of Biology and Agriculture, announced that Terry replaces R. Dwain Horrocks, who will be on professional development leave at the University of California at Davis studying mathematical and systems analysis of plant growth and development processes.Terry has concentrated his studies on the effects of iron nutrition in soybeans on symbiotic nitrogen fixation and nitrogen losses from soil. He will report some of the results of his research at the International Iron Nutrition Symposia held in Jerusalem in June.

Terry is a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee at BYU, Utah Transit Authority Board and Mounainlands Association of Governments Transportation Committee.
