Approximately 160 students from 10 schools have works entered in the Weber School District Art Festival that opens May 11 at Weber State College.
The exhibition runs through May 17 in the WSC Collett Art Gallery, and consists of about 175 works of art in the categories of painting, sculpture, pottery, drawing, commercial art and photography/print making, said Henry Barendse, curator of the gallery.Close to 40 works will be honored with cash awards totaling $2,550, and 30 others will receive honorable mention. Faculty from the WSC department of art will act as judges for the event, Barendse said.
The exhibition is free to the public.
WSC gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
