The Utah Board of Big Game Control will hold public meetings across the state next week to get public input on proposed regulations for the 1989-90 hunts. The board will finalize regulations during an executive session in Salt Lake City May 13.

One proposal would allow the taking of yearling bull elk only on the the Manti and Fish Lake elk hunting units. The change would allow for a greater number of mature bull elk in future hunts and prevent illegal harvest of young elk.Another recommendation is that 28,000 antlerless deer control permits and 5,000 antlerless elk permits be issued during the upcoming hunting season.

All meetings begin at 7 p.m. They will be held: May 8, Cedar City High School, 703 W. 600 South; May 9, Richfield High School, 510 W. 100 South; May 10, Moab Community Center, 100 N. 500 East; May 11, Vernal Middle School, 721 W. 100 South; and May 12, Orem's Canyon View Junior High School, 655 E. 950 North.
