Cardinal John O'Connor, who last month blasted television as "radioactive filth," says Lucille Ball's program in the 1950s provided "decent laughter."

O'Connor said Ball's "was a TV marriage that was a good marriage." He said that with her on-air pregnancy in 1953, "she made married pregnancy the sacrament that it is.""I was a real fan," he said.

O'Connor said Sunday that Ball, who died two weeks ago in Los Angeles, was owed a great deal for providing "decent laughter."
