Three newly elected members of the Ute Tribe's six-member ruling Business Committee were sworn in to office Monday morning at tribal headquarters on the Uintah-Ouray Reservation, a tribal official said.

Luke Duncan and Curtis Cespooch were sworn into office for the first time. Stewart Pike was re-elected in polling last month. All three won their seats in a wave of discontent over economic conditions on the Reservation. The three have made strong statements about tribal sovereignty, pledging to fight for full control of water rights that, if achieved, could result in less water arriving on the Wasatch Front via the Central Utah Project.
