Some 1,000 missing Social Security checks of Midvale and Tooele residents have been found, the Social Security Administration district office reported Monday.

Steve Jollensten, district manager, told the Deseret News Monday that the checks, missing since last week, had reached postmasters in the two communities and would be delivered Monday.Jollensten said he had spoken with U.S. Post Office officials, who are not certain where the checks were or why they didn't reach recipients sooner.

"Where the checks were is still up in the air, but trays containing about 500 checks in each community have been found. The postal service is not certain where the checks may have been," Jollensten said.
