A June 1 preliminary hearing date has been set for an Ogden man accused of stabbing to death his friend after the man supposedly made a pass at the victim's wife.
Greg Cardenas, 29, Ogden, is charged with second-degree murder for the stabbing death of Jeffrey A. Ellis, 26, also of Ogden. Ellis died April 30 from stab wounds to the torso.Police reports state that Ellis went to Cardenas' house and accused the defendant of making a pass at his wife.
A fight ensued and Ellis was stabbed outside the house and then went home where he was treated by paramedics. He died a short time later at the hospital.
Cardenas was also treated at the hospital for cuts and bruises.
