Darrell Krueger, vice president for academic affairs and dean of instruction at Northeast Missouri State University, has been named president of Winona State University.

Krueger, 46, a native of Cedar City, Utah, is to assume his new position at Winona State by July 1.He was selected by the Minnesota State University System board.

Krueger has been a vice president at Northeast Missouri since 1973. He was a teacher at the school for two years before that.

Krueger succeeds Thomas Stark, who died last August. John Kane has been serving as interim president at Winona State since Stark's death. The university has a student population of 7,100.
