Grethe B. Peterson, director of Tanner Lectures on Human Value, has been appointed to the executive board of US WEST Communications in Utah, according to W. Mack Lawrence, vice president and chief executive officer.

Peterson, wife of University of Utah President Chase Peterson, has a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in business administration and also has attended Radcliffe, Harvard University and the U.She has served on the Governor's Commission of the Status of Women, the National Federation of State Humanities Councils, the Task Force on Gender and Justice and Women Concerned About Nuclear War. She received the heritage award "Utah California Women in 1987."

Lawrence said Mrs. Peterson understands the issues facing education and business development and she has good ideas about development in Utah.
