Essex Electric, a Singapore-based computer products manufacturing company, will base its North American operations at the Salt Lake International Center with the management team of Greg Farley, Michael Loftus and Brad Hansen. The new subsidiary will be known as IPC America.

Farley said the company will introduce a new line of computerized cash registers later this month and later this year will introduce a lap-top personal computer. All of the items will continue to be manufactured in Singapore, but by July 1 the company will have 300 dealers in all parts of the country.Essex will employ between 10 and 15 people at its new location.
