The next stop for Chad Olsen, co-founder, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Pro Image Inc., the sports fan gift and apparel franchise operation based in Salt Lake City, is Washington, D.C.
He will participate this weekend in a White House Rose Garden ceremony as the Small Business Administration Utah small-business person of the year. Olsen will compete with other state winners as part of National Small Business Week.Olsen, who started his business in the front room of his apartment with only $1,000 capital, received his state award Thursday during a luncheon at Salt Lake Community College. His franchise company has grown to more than $34 million in sales in 1988.
Other honored at the luncheon were Steve Baughman of Cytozyme Laboratories, exporter of the year; Brent Jacox of Software Ideas Inc., young entrepreneur; Clay Nielson of Zions Bank, financial services advocate; Ned Warner of Professional Lithographers Inc., advisory council award; and Peter Van Alstyne, Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code, district director's award.
