Morrison-Knudsen Engineers has been selected to repair the failed Quail Creek Reservoir, said Ron Thompson, manager of the Washington County Water Conservancy District.

In addition to Morrison-Knudsen, which has offices in San Francisco and Boise, GEI Consultants of Englewood, Colo., and Woodward Clyde of Oakland, Calif., had sought the project.Final acceptance of a negotiated contract with Morrison-Knudsen still needs to be worked out, Thompson said.

Thompson said the district board should make sure ample public input is provided in the design process for rebuilding the dike that failed on New Year's Day, unleashing 30,000 acre feet of water that flooded low-lying spots along the Virgin River, causing an estimated $12 million damage.
