Work has begun on the new $9 million Stateline Marina on Lake Powell just this side of the Utah-Arizona state line.
By 1991, the marina, located one mile north of Wahweap and seven miles north of Page, Ariz., will accommodate nearly 200 houseboat rentals and power boats, as well as related support buildings and services."Stateline will relieve boat rental congestion at Wahweap and allow for more private boat slips there," said John Lancaster, superintendent of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Plans for the Stateline Marina call for a store, fast food restaurant, gasoline and parking for 1,500 vehicles. It will also have a boat repair shop, shaded picnic area, shower and laundry facilities.
The marina is being built by Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas, a company owned by ARA Leisure Services, the concessioner at Lake Powell.
