Traffic is expected to slow down on I-15 between Lagoon and Roy as the Utah Department of Transportation begins a monthlong concrete rehabilitation project on May 8.
Most of the work will be done on the southbound side of I-15 between the. Roy and Clearfield interchanges. Work will also be done on northbound I-15 in the Lagoon area and also on the on and off ramps at the Kaysville interchange.UDOT officials advise motorists to use alternate routes during the project because traffic will be restricted to one narrow lane from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in areas where work is underway.
New techniques are being used by UDOT to help speed up the repair and replacement of the freeway's concrete surface. For example, a special concrete mix that will dry within 21/2-hours will be used.
If the concrete mix and other new techniques prove successful, UDOT officials said they may be adopted by maintenance crews. The contract for the $130,000 project has been awarded to Gerber Construction of Sandy.
