The Humane Society of Utah is observing National Humane Sunday, May 7, by inviting members of the community to bring their pets for special blessings at the society's shelter, 4613 S. 40th West, starting at 1 p.m.

Officials from many different religious denominations will be present to conduct the joint services."The purpose of this event is to remind people that every living being is the handiwork of the Creator and, as such, is deserving of kindness and respect," said Katharine Brant, society development director.
