Delta Airlines is not responsible for the 1985 crash of Flight 191 at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport during a storm and will not have to pay damages to the family of a victim, a federal court jury has ruled.

Other juries, most of them in Texas, have awarded damages totaling more than $66 million to other survivors of the 137 people who died in the crash Aug. 2, 1985, but they have never been asked to determine responsibility. The jury met for two days before returning the verdict Tuesday, which surprised several attorneys. They said it was the only case they can remember in which a jury awarded no damages to the family of a crash victim.
