The University of Utah honored its ski force on Tuesday for what Ute coach Pat Miller called "one of the school's must successful ski seasons despite the end result." Utah lost its bid to win its fourth straight NCAA title, losing to Vermont in March.

Among the accomplishments Miller cited were finishing only four points behind Vermont in the national finals; winning the Western Regional Championships; placing 16 skiers on the all-conference team and having 12 named All-America; and finishing the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.15 for both the men's and women's teams.Given special awards on Tuesday were: Brent Nixon, the Alf Engen Sportsmanship Award; Alex Von Wichman, the C.D. Reddish Memorial Award as the top senior; Hans Martin Sjulstad, the David Nouvelle Outstanding Skier Award; and Anke Friedrich, the Toril Forland Outstanding Skier Award.

Making all-conference were Henrik Smith-Meyer, Nixon, Oeivind Ragnhildstveit, Kjersti Nilsen, Friedrich, Heidi Dahlgren, Katja Lesjak, Gillian Frost, Eric Baumann, Thomas Lium, Sjulstad, Luke Bodenstiener, Anne Kari Aas, Kris Ryan, Simone Brake and Kim Csizmazia. All-America honors went to Nilsen, Lesjak, Friedrich, Dahlgren, Brake, Aas, Csizmazia, Ryan, Lium, Baumann, Sjulstad and Smith-Meyer.
