The University of Utah's "Theater School for Youth" summer program is now accepting registration for both of the sessions offered this year. This popular annual series of classes is under the direction of Xan Johnson and cosponsored by the U.'s Theater Department and the Division of Continuing Youth Education program.

The school has gained a national reputation, drawing students from throughout the United States.- Preteen Session (ages 8-12): June 12-28, Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Classwork aimed at building character, both artistically and developmentally. Performance opportunities include two or three evenings of student work to be shared with family and friends.

- Teen Session (13-18 age range): July 5-28, Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Focuses on acting, voice/diction, musical theater, movement, makeup and conditioning. Concentration and commitment will help the student develop a strong memory, movement and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, creative thinking and sensitivity.

All first-year applicants must schedule an audition or interview by claling 581-6356. A current photograph is required for students in both programs.

-REGISTRATION: June 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for preteens and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for teenagers. All registration will be conducted in the West Institute Building, 300 S. and University streets.

Tuition ranges from $165 to $280.
