Ogden police have arrested the friend of a man who was stabbed to death over the weekend in an altercation allegedly sparked by jealousy, authorities say.

Jeffrey A. Ellis, 26, was dead on arrival at McKay-Dee Hospital after the stabbing, reported about 2 a.m. Saturday, police said.Police found him lying on his bed in his apartment with several cuts across his torso, the reports said. At that time, an officer reported that Ellis still had a faint pulse.

Greg James Cardenas, 29, was arrested within two hours at McKay-Dee after he was taken there for treatment of a cut to his face and a bruise on the back of his head.

Police allege Cardenas' injuries resulted from a fight with Ellis in front of Cardenas' home. He was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of criminal homicide, and later released after posting $10,000 bail.
