A wild-horse exhibit is planned as part of the May 3 and 4 Western Expo by Bureau of Land Management personnel, who will be on hand to talk to Western Royale visitors about the BLM's horse adoption policy.

Wild horses fall under the jurisdiction of the BLM, and the horses are considered the property of the federal government. As part of the BLM management program, wild horses are captured and offered to the public for adoption and possible ownership. The fee to adopt a wild horse is $125, which also covers the costs of worming, vaccinations, freeze branding, brand inspection papers and health certificate papers, if needed. Horses may not be sold or used for commercial purposes for the first year of the adoption agreement.
