Robert H. Bischoff, chairman and chief executive officer of Key Bank of Utah, has been elected to the board of directors of KeyCorp, the bank's parent company, based in Albany, N.Y.
Before becoming chairman, Bischoff served in various executive posts at Commercial Security Bancorp., which was acquired by Key-Corp in 1987.His banking career spans 33 years, and he is credited with orchestrating many of the acquisitions of CSB that resulted in a pattern of profitable growth, said Victor J. Riley, Key-Corp's president and chief executive officer.
A native of Ogden, Bischoff graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College. He attended the University of Utah and University of Idaho, and became a certified public accountant.
Bischoff has served as fund drive chairman of the United Way of Salt Lake City, as a member of the Salt Lake City Board of Adjustments, and first vice president of Ballet West.
He also completed a term as president of the Utah Bankers Association and has been active in the American Bankers Association.
Bischoff serves on the boards of Key Bank of Utah, Town & Country Life Insurance Co. of Texas, Questar, Mountain Fuel Supply Co., Deseret News Publishing Co., and W.R. White Co. In addition, he is a trustee for Westminster College and Intermountain Health Care Inc.
Bischoff and his wife, Ruth, reside in Salt Lake City. They are the parents of three grown children.
