Emery Worldwide and Purolator Courier have consolidated their operations in Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden to take advantage of the consolidated strengths of their respective air and ground networks.

The new operation is known as Emery and Purolator, Worldwide Courier and Cargo and is located at the Salt Lake International Airport in the South Air Cargo Building, according to David S. Otis, city service manager.Since the Emery acquisition of Purolator last spring, the two organizations have operated separately. He said the decision to combine field operations in areas like Salt Lake City, where both companies have offices, will increase service quality, improve efficiencies, reduce costs and enable the company to better respond to customer shipping needs.

The former Purolator Courier operation at 2510 S. 34th West was relocated and combined with the existing Emery Worldwide office at the airport. This combined operation has 44 employees and a ground fleet of 20 vehicles.

The company's air fleet was integrated in September 1987 and the Salt Lake area will continue to be served by a Boeing 727 all-cargo jet, capable of carrying up to 45,000 pounds of cargo and small packages.
