Robert Eugene Bennett, who has been questioned about the disappearance of a friend whose legs have been found, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of misusing a Social Security number.

Bennett, 51, was being held in the Salt Lake County Jail on an earlier federal felony charge arising from the same situation. The indictment replaces the felony information.Bennett has refused to answer questions about Larry Duane White, 52, whose severed legs were discovered Feb. 22 in a trash bin behind Smith's Food King, 851 E. 45th South. Bennett was the last known acquaintance of White, an unemployed writer.

The grand jury's indictment says Bennett has used the alias Roy William Anderson. It charges that on June 1, 1988, Bennett gave a false Social Security number "for the purpose of obtaining employment and to conceal his true identity."
