The Salvadoran National Assembly Thursday appointed Mauricio Eduardo Colorado Burgos as the country's new attorney general, replacing Roberto Garcia Alvarado, who was assassinated April 19.
Garcia Alvarado was killed when an unkown assassin placed a bomb on the roof of his armored car when it stopped at a traffic light."We hope that things will improve in this country," said Colorado, who said he does not belong to any political party.
The National Assembly approved the selection of Colorado, the country's third attorney general in less than six months, without dissent. Five legislators abstained.
