Ross E. Kendell, president and chief operating officer of Key Bank of Utah , has been named president and chief executive officer of the bank and of Key Bancshares of Utah Inc.
Robert H. Riley Jr., president of KeyCorp, the parent company of Key Bank of Utah, which is based in Albany, N.Y.
Kendell began his banking career more than 30 years ago with Commercial Security Bank, which was acquired by KeyCorp in 1987. A native of Cornish, Cache County, Kendell graduated summa cum laude from Utah State University in 1960 with a degree in accounting and economics.
He graduated with honors from the School of Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin and taught several sessions at the Colorado School of Banking, Boulder.
Kendell is a director of the Utah Bankers Assoc. and is a trustee and chairman-elect of the Utah Economic Development Corp. He served as chairman of the 1988 United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area Campaign, and is a member of the Salt Lake City Rotary Club.
He is a member of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Utah Republican Governor's Club, Alta Club, Honorary Colonels Corps of Utah, and chairman of the Utah State University Alumni House Fund Drive.
He and his wife, Launa, are the parents of six sons and reside in Salt Lake City.
