Tours through the cave at Timpanogos Cave National Monument will begin May 13, according to Superintendent Michael O. Hill.
Tickets can be purchased at the visitor center between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily, at a cost of $3 for visitors, 16 years and older, $2 for visitors 6 through 15 years and free for those under 6. People with Golden Age Passports, 62 years and older, will pay $1.50.Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and by a new computerized reservation system at park headquarters. Payment for advance reservations can be made either in person at the visitor center or by mailing a check payable to National Park Service, c/o Cave Tour Reservations, Timpanogos Cave National Monument, R.R. 3 Box 200, American Fork, UT 84003.
Visitors are encouraged to wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes for the strenuous 1 1/2-mile hike to the caves and bring sweaters or jackets for the tour through the damp 43-degree temperature inside the caves.
