A Central Elementary School teacher is Utah's finalist in the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship program, and he will likely receive a $30,000 award to be used to build a simulated space lab at the school.
The fellowship is given to only one teacher from each state by the Federal Department of Education. Victor Williamson is Utah's only finalist.The award is made in honor of McAuliffe, America's first teacher in space. She died aboard the space shuttle Challenger.
The awards will be officially announced May 29.
