A Salt Lake woman accused of drunken driving in an accident that killed her friend has pleaded not guilty to a third-degree felony charge of vehicle homicide.

Kristie Varoz, 22, entered the plea this week before 3rd District Judge Michael Murphy, who scheduled a hearing for May 23.

Varoz is accused of driving the car that struck a light pole in Liberty Park on Dec. 14. A passenger in the car, Michael Nightwine, 20, was ejected from the car and killed.
