Open houses are planned May 8 from 2-4 p.m. in Farmington at the Utah State University Extension office, 125 S. Main, and at the Horticultural Farm office, 1817 N. Main.
The open house will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which established the nationwide Cooperative Extension Service. Refreshments will be served at both locations and the public is invited.Activities at the Extension office will include displays of water quality and dietary guidelines and demonstrations of 4-H youth program highlights, including a model rocket launching and a baby chick hatching. Free 4-H balloons will be given out.
The Horticultural Farm will sponsor a tree planting demonstration at 2 p.m. and guided tours of the Botanical Gardens at 3 p.m. In addition, there will be continuous five-minute slide presentations on the history and development of the USU Botanical Gardens and Extension experts will answer questions about gardening.
