A trial has been scheduled for a man charged with stabbing a woman to death in front of her son.

Juan Jose Lopez Jr., 22, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and child abuse. Third District Judge John Rokich then scheduled a trial for July 19.

Lopez, charged with second-degree murder and child abuse, is accused of stabbing Cindy Redfox Hernandez, 32, in her apartment, 218 W. Fourth North, on March 2. He is also accused of choking her 7-year-old son, who witnessed the slaying.
