More than 80 Palestinian leaders from Jerusalem and the occupied lands Wednesday rejected the prime minister's election plan and demanded an international conference to resolve the Middle East conflict.

It was the first formal response from local Palestinians to the peace proposal Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir outlined in Washington earlier this month.Shamir proposed elections be held in the occupied West Bank and occupied Gaza Strip to select Palestinians who would hold talks with Israel on an interim solution for the region.

Meanwhile, soldiers shot and killed two teenagers and an 8-year-old boy and wounded 37 other Palestinians Wednesday in the occupied lands, Arab officials said.
